We shall Overcome

This poem was written in response to a call  given by the Editor - 'Your Space" of the online journal Muse India for write ups reflecting the positive message of "We shall overcome" the difficult times thrown up by the Corona Virus 

With patience, as base of sandwich, 
topped up with discipline

We shall overcome!

After all, the world wars, famines, floods

previous pandemics like the plague and small pox

have all been overcome by mankind

yes, we shall overcome! 

For persistence we have inspiration from king Robert the Bruce

Who in turn was inspired by a spider

Our own king Shivaji persisted & won

Undeterred by multiple defeats

Yes, with inspiration like these we shall overcome! 

  

When in doubt remember, the darkest point of night

Is just before daybreak

“This too shall pass”  and success is ours

We have only to remember

 the twin mantra of ‘Discipline’ and ‘patience’

Yes, we shall overcome- The human spirit is paramount

We shall overcome!
