Waste Thoughts

IndiBlogger Badge

When the rich and privileged
wear tattered pants
with holes all over
it appears to me
as mocking the poor...

Need to take hold of  my thinking
its  neither fashionable anymore
nor sensible to harbour such a thought
hey mind, get sensible & real
no more waste thoughts permitted!

  1. Nicely written.
No more waste thoughts. But looking the torn pants worn by many now, I feel the same :)

  4. Never understood making holes in new jeans or buying torn and tattered jeans paying exorbitant sum of money. But is it insult to poor? I do not know.

  8. In another site(RML), I had posted this poem to which Hyderabad based reputed poet Elizabeth Kurien "Mona"responded thus:

I totally agree. This is a couplet from a ghazal of mine on the same theme:

    गरीब सीते हैं अपने फटे लिबास पर पैवंद
    अमीर करते हैं फैशन से ये रफू क्या है

(The poor stitch patches on their torn clothes
The wealthy have patches on clothes for fashion )

  9. It will be nice if you write a poem against waste of cake by rubbing it on face on birthdays and some other occasions. It is waste of food and disgusting. Cake is for eating, not for rubbing.

    1. "Cake is for eating, not for rubbing"- So true Vincent D'Souza. Sadly we have picked up some habits for fashion... Thank you for giving your feedback!
