The Kavyakaumudi International meet for the month of July 2021 was held over a period of two days on 24th and 25th July with two sessions on both days.
It was for me a pleasure and privilege to be the guest of honour during the first session on the second day, sharing space with the distinguished team of Dr Kumud Balaji
(Founder president and anchor of session), Dr Ramakrishna Perugu Garu (Chief
guest) and Ms Ganga Bhavani Rao Garu( Guest of honour). Speaking amongst
friends, I enjoyed sharing my thoughts on how Kavyakaumudi is playing a big
role in enhancing the appreciation, love for multilingual poetry and the
camaraderie it is creating among poets.
The session had some exciting
recitations by poets on varied subjects, representing various geographies. The
chief guest Perugu Garu kick-started the recitations with his poem on cosmic
oneness. Bhavani garu ‘s poem was on “Unbridled thoughts”. The other subjects
covered in the recitations during the
afternoon/evening included impact of Covid 19, environment issues, shades of
love, insights about life and living, women’s issues, nostalgia of the past,
fusion poetry on parenting, nature and a
memory of Bhopal gas tragedy. The fitting finale was a patriotic poem
“Basanti Chola” by Kumudji.
In short it was a wonderful afternoon
of various hues with moments to cherish for a long time! Three cheers to
Kavyakaumudi!
This video contains the speech I gave sharing my thoughts on poetry, its significance and the need to be inclusive when it comes to poetry.
